Overview

We currently have a full-time opportunity available for a Dental Assistant at the Children's Surgery Center of Lancaster!  This position is open to either an EFDA or a Dental Assistant.

Responsibilities

The Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) serves an important role in our dental practices. As part of our dedicated team of professionals, EFDAs treat our pediatric patients with respect and compassion as they learn to accept dental treatment, and appreciate the value of good oral health habits and preventive dental care.

  • Clean and polish coronal surfaces of teeth to remove stains, apply fluoride treatment
  • Working knowledge on placement of Sealants
  • Take impressions
  • Working knowledge composite resins, contouring materials, clamps and procedure
  • Prepare the treatment rooms for dental or operative procedures
  • Review patient charts /records
  • Take x-rays
  • Provide assistance to the dentist during dental treatment procedures such as applying anesthesia or pain medication
  • Assist dentist in management of medical or dental emergencies
  • Provide postoperative instructions prescribed by dentist
  • Place and remove matrix retainers for composite restorations
  • Interact with patients and/or the parents or guardians of patients on a variety of topics include but not limited to:
    • Review of dental history
    • Make patient feel comfortable and at ease
    • Address concerns
    • Suggest treatments
    • Educate patients, and/or the parents or guardians of patients, on the importance of routine dental hygiene and plaque control programs
    • Educate patients, and/or the parents or guardians of patients on the importance of any recommend follow-up appointments
  • Record treatment information in patient chart / electronic record
  • Clean and sanitize the rooms in preparation for the next patient
  • Sterilize or disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, prepare materials
  • Restock supplies
  • Follow OSHA and CDC protocol
  • Comply with HIPPA regulations

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Up-to-date radiology certification
  • CPR certification

Employment is contingent on the ability to pass all Company background checks and required security clearances to work with pediatric patients.
