Responsibilities

We are currently seeking a talented Registered Nurse (RN) for a full-time opportunity at our Children's Surgery Center location in Malvern, PA!

 

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides both Pre-Op and PACU nursing care to patients in our 3 OR room pediatric ambulatory surgical center. RN is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care responsibilities to our young patients utilizing the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating) in achieving the goals of the surgery center.

 


Pre-OP / PACU Responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate and accurately document nursing care for the pre-operative
  • Coordinate all aspects of nursing care with pre-operative team to achieve defined patient outcomes
  • Provide a safe environment for patient and family
  • Works closely with the surgeons and the anesthesia care providers to guide the child safely through the postoperative period
  • Provide nursing care patients in post op, continuously monitoring and assessing patients during their stay
  • Assisting patients recovering from anesthesia
  • Assessing the patient's health status and previous medical history
  • Assess the learning needs of the parent/caregiver
  • Provide appropriate education to the patient’s family regarding their individualized plan of care for at home recovery
  • Ensure charts and checklists are complete
  • Adhere to the Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies
  • Actively participates in outstanding customer service
  • Accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all
  • Assist in turning over rooms and maintaining equipment, supplies and cleanliness od surgery center
  • Other duties and tasks associated with optimizing the operational efficiency of the surgery center

Qualifications

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing
  • Must be an experienced nurse
  • At least one year of experience as an RN
  • Ability to obtain Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of start date
  • Current Pennsylvania State License

  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures
  • Ability to work as a Team player within a unit
  • Effective verbal and oral communication and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent bedside manner and customer care reassuring children and their families
  • Excellent customer service skills when interacting with patients, families, co-workers and physicians
